In this lab-based course with the Enterprise Deployment and Systems Management exam delivered on the last day, you will explore the concepts and methods necessary for successful large-scale deployment and management of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems. You will learn how to implement and manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments efficiently and effectively in ways that make the systems manageable by a team of administrators. You will learn to use of the Red Hat Network Satellite server for deployment and provisioning of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems. By the end of this course, you will have built your own RPM package and will have used Subversion to make changes to scripts.
Upon passing the exam, you'll receive a Certificate of Expertise for Enterpise Deployment and System Management. The Red Hat Enterprise Deployment and System Management exam is one out of three needed to earn Red Hat Certified Data Center Specialist (RHCDS) certification and one out of five needed to earn Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) certification.
RHCEs who want to prepare for and take the Enterprise Deployment and Systems Management exam. If you are not an RHCE, you should enroll in RH401, a four-day course that does not include the exam.
You must be a current RHCE to take this course and exam.
Install a Red Hat Network Satellite Server and populate it with software channel content.
Deploy a Subversion repository and have multiple administrators use it to manage changes to configuration files and shell scripts.
Register client systems with an RHN Satellite server, both interactively and with automation, and troubleshoot registration problems.
Create and manage custom software channels, cloned software channels, and errata notifications with an RHN Satellite server.
Build and sign RPM packages that can be deployed by an RHN Satellite server.
Modify and write simple scripts that will interact with an RHN Satellite server with its Application Programming Interface (API).
Use RHN Satellite, with Cobbler, to create and manage a bare-metal provisioning environment.
Manage and provision Kernel-Based Virtual Machine (KVM) guests using RHN Satellite.
Manage the embedded database, entitlement certificates, and export software channels from an RHN Satellite server.
